COURSE DESCRIPTION Human development and the arts as experienced through textiles and apparel; history, forms, functions, interrelationships, and symbolism correlated with personal exploration.

TOPICS TO BE COVERED:
Creative Thinking
Six Design Principles
Fashion Drawing
Patterning of 3-D objects
Embroidery
Stencil / Resist dye and ink applications
Crochet

LEARNING OUTCOMES Students will demonstrate a basic understanding of the design principles and their application to creative problem solving, related to but not exclusive to textiles and apparel.   This knowledge will be demonstrated through a self-directed final project.

TEXT – PDF’s of readings to be provided

MATERIALS – paper & fabric scissors, pencil, tracing paper, pencil, sketchbook, tape measure and final project materials.
